Jacj, I think I enjoyed your comments as much as you enjoyed the article! Thanks for the encouragement, old pal. And it's the first of a series of articles wherein I'll revisit many of the subjects. And will be happy to include the RL connection for Dr. Warren, who was I believe a master there as well as an alum!
Nice work, Dino! I'm a bit ashamed to say I did not know of Dr. Warren. High praise indeed that the British thought so much of him. And I've just got to add that our old friend Billy "the duck" Donley worked for a time at GM in Warren, Ohio!
My nephew recently moved to Warren PA, which was one of the seeds of the article. Dr. Warren was a proud graduate of Roxbury Latin School same as our own Jack O’Loughlin. Thanks for the encouragement, Rich!
Dino...Keep bringing it!!....Like you, I am a big fan of our Revolutionary history, the tone and pace of your piece is exceptional! Love the article and the research you put into this! I'm looking forward to your novel!
Dino this is incredibly well researched and well written.
I’m a big fan of JW as I was on a JW named scholarship at RLS.
I’ve read almost everything ever published about JW including most recently “Founding Martyr”.
Yours is the best piece about him I’ve ever read.
BLS scholar/athlete, Columbia miscreant, accomplished attorney and now HISTORIAN!
Kudos to you!
Just wish somehow someway you could have squeezed an RL reference in.
How about this… “unlike most of the leaders who had attended BLS, JW attended tiny RLS in Roxbury where he grew up and was the teacher for a time after college. RLS was later described by Cotton Mather as “that little nursery’, surely a nod to the Alma mater of one of America’s greatest patriots”.
Or this….“After being put into storage by an indifferent city administration, his statue now sits proudly on the campus of Roxbury Latin, his Alma mater, revered by generations of grateful alumni who truly appreciate his legacy”
Dino, wonderful writing and perspective on the cause and battle with Warren as the focus of one man’s and one family’s sacrifice. I look forward to more, with The 250th just beginning and the redcoats still in Boston for another 9 months, then onto NYC. Outstanding!

Thanks, Bill! From a great old friend and a published author, it means a lot. Our shared heritage. Dino
